Valerie and Kathleen spent many years in a general practice, concentrating in residential real estate, closings, Wills, divorce and family law. Valerie and Kathleen ultimately decided to concentrate exclusively on divorce, separation and family law issues because those experiences are an intense and troubled time for couples. Valerie and Kathleen make a dedicated commitment to advocating for their clients,  getting them through a difficult process with dignity and respect.

Valerie and Kathleen strive to assist their clients in resolving their disputes without the animosity generated by court battles, by improving communications between those involved in family conflicts and using their combined and varied negotiation, mediation and collaborative law skills to bring about a meaningful settlement whenever possible.

For many years Valerie and Kathleen have emphasized the need for spouses and parents to be able to communicate effectively and respectfully with each other, to resolve not only the immediate conflict, but hopefully to establish a pattern of conflict resolution that will avoid the need for courts and law suits in the future. They also recognize that families in crisis often need to become financially stable before they can even start the process of addressing their marital or partnership disputes, and the attorneys work with the client towards this end. If negotiations are not successful, or in cases where settlement negotiations are not helpful or advisable, Valerie and Kathleen provide litigation services for court proceedings in both Family Court and Supreme Court.
